How things work.
A small manual. The cube declined to write it.
Pick the shape of your post.
- Discussion
- Ideas, conversations and things that don’t need an answer.
- Question
- Ask for help. The author can mark one reply as the accepted answer.
- Showcase
- Something you’re making. Bring at least one image; unfinished work is welcome.
- Poll
- A question with two to six fixed choices. Each signed-in member gets one vote and can change it while voting is open.
- Release
- Something ready to share: a download, an external link or a guide.
All five allow comments and the same small selection of reactions. Use the tabs on Posts to filter by type, and the game selector to narrow things down.
Views are approximate opens of a published post, counted after it stays visible for two seconds. Signed-in members count once per account per post in 30 minutes, even when switching networks. Guests count once per network address per post in that time. Two signed-in members sharing Wi-Fi count separately; guests sharing a connection may be combined. Browsing lists and link previews don’t add views, and this is not an exact unique-reader total. Counts start when this feature was added.
Leave 60 seconds between new posts, 10 seconds between comments, and 5 seconds between chat or DM messages. Passing through has a 15-second pause. The send button shows the countdown; your draft stays put while you wait. Switching tabs, threads or conversations doesn’t reset your timer.
Daily account allowances are 20 posts, 100 comments, 50 Passing through messages and 500 chat/DM messages, resetting at midnight UTC. Existing rate and shared-IP limits also apply. Deleting content doesn’t replenish these allowances. These limits keep the small place manageable; contact the team if you run into one during normal use.
Choose CoD4, WaW, BO1, BO3 or Other. Other covers Call of Duty games without modtools; name the game. General Discussions and Polls can leave the game blank.
Releases: the useful pile.
Choose Map, Mod, Guide, Tool, Asset. Small reusable bits of code belong under Asset too.
Include a version and either a ZIP or an HTTPS download link. A Guide can be the article itself, with version, file and link all optional.
Hosted downloads are ZIP-only, up to 500 MB per file (500,000,000 bytes). Bigger downloads need an external link. We don’t host large BO3 packages.
Your first Release waits for moderator approval. Once one is approved, future Releases publish immediately. You can have up to three waiting. Your profile privately lists their status; if one is rejected, its page explains why. Discussions, Questions, Showcases and Polls publish immediately.
Approval is a content check, not a malware scan. Sign in to download hosted files. If a file looks unsafe or breaks the rules, use its report action. The download policy has the less entertaining details.
Corrections, removals and polls.
Use Edit on your own post, comment or guestbook message to correct its text. Post titles and images can change too: add or remove images, or choose a different cover, then Save changes. Cancel keeps the published gallery. The usual image limits still apply, and Showcases need at least one image. Post type, classifications and downloadable files stay fixed. Editing a rejected Release resubmits it for approval.
Delete hides your content publicly. Moderators retain a review record; public images, previous downloads and cached copies may remain available. Moderator removals can be restored by staff, but an author’s deletion cannot be restored through those controls.
Report sends a concern to moderators. They can remove or restore content, pin posts, restrict accounts and require future Releases to be reviewed. Restricting an account signs it out; previous content is reviewed separately.
Polls run for 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days. The author or staff can close them early. Choices stay fixed, and once votes exist the poll’s question cannot be rewritten. Share poll links to voting, while Share results opens the results view at the same public post URL with ?results=1.
A little visual evidence.
Discussions, Questions and Polls allow one image. Showcases need one to four; Releases allow up to four. Choose the cover image for the post list and sharing preview.
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP under 10 MB. Post previews are resized to fit 1280 × 720 while keeping their proportions. Images are processed before publication to validate them and remove metadata.
Your own little face.
Open your name in the header to find your profile. Edit profile lets you change your display name and bio; Save and Cancel appear when those fields change.
Give respect on another member’s profile to show appreciation. You get one per person, and clicking Respected withdraws it. Totals appear on profiles and in People; you can’t give respect to yourself.
Avatar changes publish separately as soon as the upload succeeds, and are limited to once every seven days. A failed upload doesn’t use your turn.
Posts and profiles have shareable URLs and preview metadata for places like Discord. Posts with images use their cover; otherwise the Caulk image stands in. Discord decides when to refresh its cached previews.
Several acceptable levels of noise.
Passing through is the tiny guestbook in the sidebar: five recent messages, public to read and signed-in to write.
Chat is live and requires sign-in to read or write. There’s one global room; use Message on someone’s profile to start a DM. The header counts unread private messages.
Chat accepts text up to 1,000 characters and shows the latest 50 messages. You can edit or delete your own chat messages. Blocking stops new DMs in both directions and hides that person’s global messages; your existing private history stays readable. Report a message to send it to moderators for review.
Chat messages become eligible for cleanup after 90 days. Unresolved reports can keep a message longer. This isn’t a permanent archive, so keep your important work somewhere sensible.
